NIPTE Rigaku Summer Research Scholarship for Graduate Students

NIPTE is pleased to announce a new round of the NIPTE Rigaku Summer Research Scholarship for graduate students in NIPTE member organizations. Resulting from a generous donation from Rigaku, the intent of this Scholarship is to award one summer research fellowship of $10,000 to cover travel, lodging, and stipend for a graduate student to complete a research project at the Rigaku Laboratory in Houston, TX. The analytical laboratories at Rigaku offer access to advanced instrumentation that is generally unavailable at many university facilities, enabling the awardee to complete specialized characterization experiments under the technical guidance of Rigaku expert scientists.

Applications should be submitted that address a focus study incorporating either:

  • Advanced characterization methods for industrial pharmaceutics, emphasizing X-ray computed tomography imaging as applied to pharmaceutical materials and dosage forms.

  • Electron diffraction and its utility for high throughput solid form screening.

The program starts in Summer 2026. Applications should be submitted before 11:59 PM Eastern Time on Friday, June 5, 2026. Applications will be evaluated by a panel of NIPTE faculty, and the awardee will be announced on Friday, June 26, 2026. To be eligible, students must be under the advisement of a member of the NIPTE Faculty Committee, which should be acknowledged in the letter of recommendation. The scholarship will be awarded by NIPTE, in coordination with the Sponsored Research Office at the institution at which the awardee is registered as a student.

Applications are being accepted through 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, June 5, 2026

Graduate students wishing to apply for this award should submit an application dossier consisting of:

  • Statement of purpose, up to three pages, that describes a project to be completed at Rigaku during Summer 2026.
