Workforce Development

Companies will be invited to join the workforce development consortium for an annual membership contribution.  This fee will be allocated towards training, in addition to which companies will receive a 25% bonus.  As the consortium is formed, a menu of training programs and courses will be made available to members.  The type of training and specific content will be adapted to suit the needs of the consortium.  Courses will be taught by faculty and staff from NIPTE universities based on area of expertise.

Mission

Developing the workforce to drive the future of domestic manufacturing by providing critical training in pharmaceutical sciences to upskill current employees and to create a pipeline for prospective talent.

Pathfinding Workshop Series

The drug discovery, development, and regulatory approval process typically take up to 15 years. This lengthy time frame makes it hard to respond to emergencies requiring new therapies, deprives patients of faster access to life-saving medicines, decreases the profitability period of pharmaceutical companies, and contributes to the high cost of new medicines. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has made clear the need for faster drug development and regulatory evaluation process.

Centers of Excellence

Advanced and continuous manufacturing has become a growing priority in the FDA’s agenda to improve quality, safety, and access since the early 2000’s. Many companies have succeeded in implementing these technologies and getting products approved. The need to build a strong supply chain has also become a matter of national urgency. In December 2022, President Biden signed into law a congressional bill requiring the
FDA to designate up to five national Centers of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Manufacturing (HR 4369). The new law also authorized $100M in funding for the FY23-27
period.
