Talk Title: “A snapshot of 3D printing at Merck”
Abstract: 15 minutes will be spent on a preclinical/early clinical strategy for targeted release of oral dosage forms. The last 5 minutes will be spent on a use case for a 3D printed component in GMP traditional-manufacturing of tablets.
Biography: Derrick Smith is from Merck & Co., Inc based in West Point, PA. He is currently the lead for materials and quality and compliance for 3D printing efforts at Merck. Previously, he led research on 3D printing tablets for clinical manufacture for rapid API screening. Derrick received his PhD in material science at Drexel University. Prior to joining Merck, worked in both the plastics and medical device industry.
